Description

The Palazzo dei Marchesi Saluzzo di Paesana was built by Gian Giacomo Plantery between 1715 and 1722 for Baldassarre Saluzzo di Paesana and is the largest and most complex noble palace in the city. It integrates the requirements of decorum, representation functions and rational exploitation of the rented parts. Intended for renting and as a stable towards Via del Carmine, the palace overlooks a large courtyard of honor where all the canonical elements are doubled for luxury rental: double access, two grand stairways, two opposing arcades. The atrium is covered by a typical lunette vault that rests exclusively on the structures of the perimeter, while the two large halls located above the atriums performed the function of stately vestibules for each pair of apartments. The Saluzzo Manor Apartment, which still retains eighteenth-century furnishings and decorations, including the frescoed vaults and the upper doors of the Guidobono, has been owned by three Turin families since 2008 who have decided to return it to the city through the organization of private events business and cultural, in the same spirit of the Saluzzo di Paesana family. The Apartment has an area of 560 square meters divided into the following main rooms: - Vestibule (3.70x3.00) and Atrium (7.50x7.20): access area to the Apartment, once the toilet of the Countess of Paesana, communicating with the distribution hall of the apartment, originally the bedroom of the Countess of Paesana, frescoed with the "Judgment of Paris" - Sala dei Busti (7.50x7.50): large hall with a monumental appearance, which separated the apartment feminine from the main one, remodeled at the end of the nineteenth century following the return of the ancient title of Marquis of Saluzzo in 1879 and dominated by the fresco depicting the Fame crowned by Time - Parade Room (7.50x7.50): unique environment that has not undergone substantial changes over the centuries. The room, which constitutes the most sumptuous interior of the building, is decorated with three over-doors and a full-vaulted fresco, masterpieces by the artist D. Guidobono - Sala del Consiglio (7.50x5.50): the only room to have rich eighteenth-century furniture, the room was used for various moments of private life of the owners. - Sala della Cassaforte (3.60x4.40) and Library (3.60x4.40): the private rooms of Count Baldassarre, the only survivors of their kind to have kept decorative traces concerning their ancient function. - Yellow living room (7.50x4.70): once separated into two private rooms dedicated to the Countess of Paesana, it is now used as a representative office - Private rooms (4.90x7.60): once private rooms, now destined to host catering service providers.
